Our jabs and pills!!!

We took the following immunisation shots and jabs with the accelerated schedule during February-March:

Diphtheria & Tetanus & Polio (Revaxis): 1 injection - 10years
Hepatitis A & Typhoid: 1 injection with a Hep A booster at 6 months

Hepatitis B: Accelerated schedule: 3 injections over a month with a 4th shot at 12 months - 10-20 years
Meningitis (ACWY): 1 injection which covers you for 3 years
Yellow Fever: 1 injection which covers you for 10 years

Cholera: 2x oral doses mixed with a glass of water
Rabies: After hesitating we have decided to get Rabies which has a 100% mortality and the vaccine only buys you a little bit more time after being bitten to get to a doctor for treatment. Considering the number of stray dogs running around Africa we thought this is a no brainer. Charles got his from 1st Contact for £15x3 shots intra-dermally which gave a red bump but no other reaction. Rensche got hers at the local GP at £25x3 shots which was administered intra-muscularly which left her with a dead arm and a burning fever.

Then we are taking along the following malaria prophylaxis: Doxycycline 100mg daily - say 200caps for 3 months each

At the end of our trip we'll go for Praziquantal bilhazia treatment.

As per our packing list we are taking a range of pills and ointments to treat pretty much any ailment that might attack, latch on, engross, infect or embed itself on or in us. Although it's an extensive list all this concoctions pack into a very small little pouch.
